So I was watching Ali Abdaal youtube video about the three books that changed his life. I highly recommend his youtube channel. You can learn a lot about productivity and productivity tools.
I started to watch his channel when he was talking about iPads and iPad pencils. The one thing that made me stay and watch his videos back in the days was how he was spinning the pencils in his hand. I've found it hilarious. I can't explain why. That showed to me you have to make or have unique gestures to be remembered by others.
One of the books was "Show your work", written by Austin Kleon. This book, for me, was a game-changer.
If one thing you can take away from this book is "Share what you love, and people who love the same things will find you." So I started to think what are those things that I could share with you. One of them is reading. If you are reading this blog post, we already share one passion.
I like to watch gameplay streams, so I was thinking, why not create some. Talk about the tech surrounding it.
And another one is running.
The writer states the best way to learn things is to learn in front of others. Document your learning curve. "Be ambitious. Keep yourself busy".
Austin says instead of taking a break between your projects and wait for feedback. Just start another one building on the previous project. Fill your corner of the internet with the things you like and are interested in.
Share what things are inspiring you. If you learned something, turn around and try to explain, teach it to others. I was thinking, if not daily, but weekly, I will try to share something about my work with others.
And your posts and videos will never be perfect, but you will develop with time and effort. Just be consistent in what you are doing.
So this book essentially convinced me to start streaming and start my youtube channel. If you are hesitant about putting yourself and your thoughts out on the internet, I think this is the best book to read.
