How my streaming journey started.

I would like to write about my streaming experience with a two PC streaming setup. So...by now, I think you figured out that I started a new journey in my life. I decided I would like to stream my gameplay. I thought I will connect two PCs together and out of the box will work just perfect. It seemed easy - everybody does it - I can do it too. What a huge misconception. I was watching youtube videos about streaming seemed easy enough. (By the way, I am a big fan of CohhCarnage and theRadBrad - check out their youtube channels). Because of personal reasons, I had to start with two laptops (a story for another blog post, maybe).

Let's connect them, but with what. So I dived in the forums - youtube - google, you name it. I stumbled upon the NDI plugin with OBS. You just need an ethernet cable. I've connected the two laptops. The video was lagging, the sound was in desync. (fix in another blog post). Ok, let's buy a video capture card maybe that will be the solution to my problems. Let's dive into the forums again - youtube - google, you name it. I'm following a Hungarian channel as well. Their name is TheVR. The advice in a video was just to use the Elgato HD60S. So I went and bought one. A few days later, I found one for half of the price in a second-hand shop. Lovely.

So I've got my full-priced video capture card. I was thinking this is it. This will be perfect. Unboxed it. I've plugged it in, import it to OBS after watching countless videos on youtube on how to do it - no sound. By this point, I was thinking maybe I should throw my laptops out the window. (fix in another blog post) So I've dived in forums - youtube - google, you name it. After getting my sound working, it hit me I need a microphone.

I started to look for a decent one, decided to buy the Elgato wave 3. I thought it will work right out of the box. By now, I think you get the idea. Unboxed it, plugged it in. I was thinking this is it. Now I can stream my gameplays with a crystal clear voice. What a cold shower it was when I went to my sound settings and clicked on the recording tab, this waited for me.

This is not how I imagined it. But managed to solve the technical issues and managed to link everything together. I am still in the process to adopt a webcam. (being hesitant about it) I would like to write a blog post about every little step which helped me. Maybe it will help someone to start streaming and figure out what is not working whit their setup.
